How we found the cottage that’s become our forever getaway.

A Rosehill Cottage Story

Rosehill Cottage on the Rappahannock is our dream home. When we laid eyes on its white picket fence and rose garden on July 5, 2021, we were instantly in love. As we opened the front door and saw the sweeping view of the Rappahannock River, that was it. We made an offer that afternoon and, after several months of renovations and more Facebook Marketplace pickups than we can count, here we are.

From what we’ve learned from neighbors, there was an original structure on the property dating back to the early 1900s. In the 1990s, the house was gutted and added onto by an older couple we’ve heard loved the cottage as much as we do — and who put an incredible amount of care into the rose garden that inspired us to choose the name Rosehill Cottage.

When we bought the property, we set out not only to renovate the home, but honor its sense of place on the Middle Peninsula of Virginia. We’re delighted to take you along on this journey.
