Small town charm from Urbanna to White Stone, Deltaville to Irvington.

Welcome to the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck of Virginia

We’re so thrilled to welcome you to Locust Hill, Virginia! Rosehill Cottage is located in a small town on the Middle Peninsula of Virginia, just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Urbanna, a just ever so slightly larger town that’s renowned for its annual Urbanna Oyster Festival. We’re also across the bridge from the Northern Neck, which includes Irvington, a town known for the famed Tides Inn.

Many of you who are from Richmond and surrounding cities in central Virginia know the Middle Peninsula and the Northern Neck well, but, for our guests coming from Washington, DC and elsewhere, this may be an area that’s new-to-you. Because of that, we want to make sure we share the beauty, vibrancy, and incredible reasons to spend time here.

Under this Explore tab, you’ll find recommendations for shopping, eating, drinking, and more. These are in no way exhaustive, I’ll continue to add to the list as I have time. You can also visit the Virginia’s River Realm website for wonderful recommendations and definitely reach out to us if you have any questions. If I get a wild hair, I may even include itineraries. Stay tuned.

A point of clarification: while we’re located on the Rappahannock River, that does not mean we’re in Rappahannock County. I know many of our friends in DC think of the Shenandoah when they hear Rappahannock, but we’re several hours from that region!
